It is set in the charming village of Freckleton, Lancashire in a grade 2 listed building. Freckleton Lodge 103 Preston Old Road, Freckleton, Preston, PR4 1HD ★★★☆ Freckleton Lodge is a medium size care home in Preston housing a maximum of 28 individuals. Freckleton Lodge caters for elderly including those with Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia. The care home also accepts individuals with mental health conditions. The Manse Nursing Home Kirkgate, Kirkham, Preston, PR4 2UJ ★★☆☆ The Manse Nursing Home can accommodate up to 40 people who require nursing or personal care.

The home is in the centre of Freckleton village, close to shops, a library and public transport. Bedroom accommodation is situated over two floors and there is a stair lift. There are three lounges plus a conservatory used for dining. Croft House is a 22 bed residential care home providing 24 hour personal care to the elderly at an affordable price for all.
They are always busy and you have to ask them things in passing or they will sit with you when they have time'. Another person told us, 'Too many old people here for me, I just want to be at home. I stay in the bedroom because there's nothing for me to do, but they do come and check on me to see I'm alright'. The registered manager told us they were committed to improving the service they provided and they wanted people to be happy at Croft House Rest home and receive high quality care. We spoke with four people who received support and three relatives. We did not use the Short Observational Framework for Inspection .

People were referred to other health professionals for further advice and support when assessed needs indicated this was appropriate and documentation we viewed reflected this. We saw people were offered a variety of foods at Croft House Rest Home and people were supported to eat and drink sufficient to meet their needs. There were systems in place to protect people at risk of harm and abuse.
There are small gardens to the front and sides of the home, with patios and seating areas, accessible via ramps. This inspection was carried out to follow up concerns we previously identified regarding the premises. We also reviewed some of the quality assurance systems at the home.We found the provider had taken steps to ensure the premises were adequately maintained.
The Old Vicarage Care Home
These helped to identify shortfalls and led to service improvement. However parts of the home were still in need of attention. A smart and well decorated environment would enhance the general well being of those living at the home.
On the day of inspection there were 21 people living at the home. People living at the home told us staff were friendly and kind. The relatives we spoke with confirmed they were kept informed of important changes and were generally pleased with the quality of care provided.
SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. This was as people could communicate their views on the service to us. – there are some services which we can’t rate, while some might be under appeal from the provider.

We found appropriate recruitment checks were carried out. This helped ensure suitable people were employed to work at the home. We found there were sufficient staff to meet people’s needs. People were supported in a prompt manner and people told us they had no concerns with the availability of staff. The registered manager sought feedback from people who received support and meetings were held with them so they could express their views. During the inspection we noted improvements were required to ensure the safety of the environment.
Staff we spoke with told us they had the time to support people in a calm and relaxed way. Before our inspection on 15 October 2018 we completed our planning tool and reviewed the information we held on the service. This included notifications we had received from the provider, about incidents that affect the health, safety and welfare of people who received support and information from members of the public. In addition, we contacted the local funding authority and asked them their views on the service provided.
Ravenscroft Rest Home Limited Liverpool Road, Longton, Preston, PR4 5HA ★★★☆ Ravenscroft Rest Home is situated in the village of Longton and is close to all local amenities. The home provides personal care and accommodation for up to 32 older people. Accommodation is provided in mostly single bedrooms with some rooms having ensuite facilities. Hedges House Residential Hotel Limited Church Road, Lytham, Lytham St Annes, FY8 5LL ★★★☆ Hedges House is situated in the centre of Lytham.
People told us and records we viewed; indicated people received their medicines as prescribed. We found best practice guidance was not always followed. We noted two bottles of prescribed medicines had not been dated on opening. For services we haven't rated we use ticks and crosses to show whether we've asked them to take further action or taken enforcement action against them.
